Just steps from the bustling midtown streets are some of Central Park’s most serene and exquisite landmarks. Discover highlights of the Park’s south end, including Grand Army Plaza, the Pond, Gapstow Bridge, Wollman Rink, Chess & Checkers House, and the Dairy Visitor Center & Gift, and learn about the Conservancy’s work to restore and maintain this green respite in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world.

The Belvedere: Beautiful View

Looking up to the Belvedere Castle from Turtle Pond

Enjoy the sweeping vistas of the Great Lawn from the newly restored Belvedere Castle while learning about its rich history and the Conservancy’s work to preserve this architectural gem. On this tour of the Belvedere—which fittingly translates to “beautiful view”—you’ll explore the surrounding landscapes and landmarks, including the wildlife-filled Turtle Pond, the regal King Jagiello statue, and the 3,500-year-old “Cleopatra’s Needle.”
