A stemless, hardy herb that emits a foul odor when disturbed, there's much more to skunk cabbage than meets the eye (and nose). Some leaves are completely deep wine-red or maroon, while in others this background coloring is mottled with patches or stripes of yellow or yellow-green. Its shape is dramatic, and appears 'sculpted.' It grows in swampy woodlands.
