The Central Park Conservancy is resurfacing the park path east of Sheep Meadow, adjacent to the Mall and south of the E. 72nd Street cross drive. The area is a popular space for recreational activities, including roller skating, roller hockey, learning to ride a bike, and more. It is also an area that is heavily used by permitted special events to set up activations and finish line festivals for runs and walks.
Currently, the asphalt surface is in poor condition. It will be resurfaced to provide an improved experience for recreational uses and to withstand the impact of necessary vehicle uses for special events and Park maintenance.
The resurfacing work includes repairing and repaving the asphalt surface, applying a seal coating designed for recreational use, and striping the surface for recreational uses.
